Well all my parts have finally arrived for my replica RA-1 I'm building except the case and opamp. I have some extra 2132s so Ill just use those in sockets for the building process and then change 'em out for the cheap Grado chip from Japan.

I got a DPDT switch and I have no idea how to wire it in. Can someone please give me a little guidence? There are 6 leads coming out the back of the switch. What is what?

Thanks,
Chad

A double pole, double throw switch connects one pair of wires to two potential positions. Think of it as a pair in the center than can be connected to a pair on either side (mutually exclusively).

Use your ohm meter from the center to either side and move the switch to different positions to see the effect.

It's like this:

o o o

o o o

We'll call the pins, from left to right, top row first, 1 through 6.

as an example, we'll say this switch is for V+ and V-.

Connect V+ from the power supply/battery to pin 2.
Connect V- from the power supply/battery to pin 5.

If you want the switch to be ON when the switch toggle is moved to the right, connect V+ to the amplifier on pin 1 and V- to the amplifier on pin 4.

For the switch to be ON whent he toggle is to the left, connect V+ to pin 3 and V- to pin 6

Thank you very much for a very good and understandable post on how to use the DPDT switch. I'm glad I asked I wouldn't have done it right.

Thanks again,
Chad
