Well, seeing that audiocubes is a trustworthy site in europe(which wont kick me in shipping) i'd like some help purchasing a phone from there.
I want a comfortable phone,good for Rock/Metal/Electronica,easy to drive.
Is it too much?
Im thinking of Audio technicas.
Heres the pages from audiocubes on Aths, please help me choose the best for what i mentioned at max 170-180 euros (if u can do that at 120 euros, even better.)
http://www.audiocubes.com/index.php?cPath=23_36
http://www.audiocubes.com/index.php?...ort=3a&&page=2

I dont mind if its a sony or an ath or anything

But i was told to get Grados, and because the are really difficult to find in Europe(at normal prices) and because i've read that they are fairly uncomfortable(and im not used to big headphones-i found the hd280 pro uncomfortable-my jaws were aching from the killer grip!) i think im going for aths(or anything).
Thanx in advance and forgive me for posting all the time looking for a phone that suits me.

EDIT: my sources are pc audio card(prob an audigy2) and sony pcdp.no amp(yet, for some time to come)No prob if its gona be open or closed.

There are several nice headphone at your price range fit in your needs.
ATH-A500, ATH-A900, ATH-A1000, (ATH-W1000 might be too sharp for metal). The only Sony I would recommand is MDR-CD3000, but it's a bit over your budget.
Since you are in europe, why not check out http://home.t-online.de/home/meier-audio/
Beyer got some nice phone too, DT770, DT931, DT250, DT880. DT880 is a very nice phone, not too hard to drive either.
Ultrasone hfi650 is nice too.
Happy Listening.

No. Wouldn't go jogging with it, but 250g is considered to be fairly light weight.

audiocubes kick my ass in shipping. $10-$15 to ship and earbud headphone, they must be smoking crack. a headphone that cost $45 would end up as $60. evne though the stuff is imported it shouldnt be that much.

The DT 831 don't provide anywhere near -16dB of isolation.

But more importantly, whereas some headphones (Grados, Senns, some other Beyer models) can safely be recommended as generally "good" headphones for anyone looking to upgrade, I find the DT 831 to be one of those headphones you shouldn't buy without auditioning (or ordering from a vendor with a return policy). Their tonal balance is clearly shifted towards the treble, and people really seem to have a love/hate view of them.

I would say go for the HFI-650, mine are coming this week(please hurry delivering mr.mailman).

I will write some kind of small review of them, my music taste is pretty mutch similar to your needs.

If you buy anything from audiocubes be sure to check your account "preferences" afterwards. I've bought a couple of things from them and recently started getting spam from them. When I told them to stop it they told me it was my "preference" - apparently your "preference" is to receive email related to things you buy, until you go and change this.

So remember, shopping at audiocubes means automatic "price alerts" in your inbox - it's up to you to disable them.

Audiocubes does not make money off of the shipping cost. Those rates are what the post office charges them to ship internationally via Speedpost (EMS). It sure beats regular air shipment which has no tracking and takes two to three times as long to arrive from Japan for only a slightly cheaper price.

I am lucky enough to understand shipping pricing a little better than I used to since I started working at the store I do. Shipping has a minimum cost through most companies, for us it's a minimum of $6.75/$6.95 (one or the other) to ship up to 3 pounds of stuff to Chicago, $7.95 outside except a few certain southern states up to 3 pounds. That means to ship something from here to New York that weighs 3 pounds or less, .5, 1, whatever, it still costs $7.95. Headroom, Audiocubes, anyone cannot control that. The only thing you can do is just add on some more light stuff to make the most of that cost.
