Hello everyone,
This is my first post here.
I am looking for a replacement for Audio Technica M50 headphones. Please advice.
Requirements: Closed back, over-ear, price range is up to ~700$. Great but not essential if they are available on British market (London), so I will have an opportunity to test them.
Source is Hidzis AP100, can be considered for upgrading too if necessary.
Listening to: classical music 50% (orchestral, piano, operas), other genres 50%.

Thinking about planar magnetic ones but hard to find any with closed construction and good feedbacks.

P.s. I also have an in-ear etymotic er-4pt which I luckily chose in blindfolded test, but they are not as comfortable for long listening as over-ear, especially with non-original eartips replacement.

Thanks in advance.

Yes closed back planars is a bit hard to come by but if you can find some ZMF’s most will bring what you want and the Omni’s or Ori’s would be a good pick.

Hi,

Consider the MrSpeakers AEON Flow Closed. You can find them here in the forum for about US$ 600. Great sound, very neutral, nice bass

Not sure if Massdrop can ship these Fostex T-XO Planer Magnetic headphones to you directly, might have to ship thru a third party.

(I just ordered a pair)

If you're in London, get yourself over to Audio Sanctuary. In addition to all the usual suspects, Beyer, Sennheiser etc, they also stock the more exotic brands (to the UK) such as Mr Speakers, Audeze and Meze.

Given where you’re coming from, I don’t see why you’d be in a big hurry to spend US$700.

Watch for good pricing on the discontinued, as of about April 2018, Bang & Olufsen H6.

Beyond that, it’s not like there’s a shortage of London shops to try out headphones.
