I got this player and it's amazing. I'm in love with it
I rooted it and modified the crap of out it so it didn't look at all like Android but more like a player. Optimized battery and stuff so I don't have to turn it off all the time and the battery seems to last a long time.

See photos!

Has anyone figured out how to modify the physical buttons? I would like the down button to be next instead of the up button being next.

I need some advice here.

If I am using an external amp. Would there be any benefit of using the balanced output from my Pioneer?
Also I have an xDuoo XD05 Plus. Is there any benefit to using the USB out from the Pioneer or should I continue using the 3.5mm output?

if u use digital output to the xd05, it will use the xd05 DACs, so no matter the source, it will give same sound (if the software used is same too with other source/device example : uapp, poweramp etc).
if the xduoo xd05 dacs is better than xdp, sure , it will give benefit/better sounding output if u use usb from xdp.

but if u use 3,5mm and plug it into aux in, it will just act as an amplifier (using xdp300r dac). dont know if there are sound different with the balanced, cs i dont have balanced device.
afaik, balanced output is made for eliminating unwanted noise from outside signal (radio, wifi etc) technically. Cmiiw, cz im a newbie in audio world lol

I have taken a couple of more in focus pictures of the jack connectors, in the hope someone can help identify a replacement. I have looked for a couple of hours today but can't find one that looks as if it will fit. I have also emailed Pioneer asking if they'd send new jacks, although I'm not holding my breath!

Anyway here are a couple of pictures.

You know what bothers me even more? Replacement of the battery when it dies. Did you or can you take photos of the battery?

Hey guys. I'm interested in an used XDP-300R for what I consider a good price. Around that same price I could get an X5 3rd gen or for less I could get a Fiio M7.
I really don't need any of the streaming options. I just want a player that is snappy and responsive and has 2 microSD slots.

Has anyone used this with 2x 512 GB cards? Is it laggy?
I could use the money I'm saving to get a balanced cable for my Shozy 1.1

I will be pairing it with an Xduoo XD-05 external amp for heavier headphones. Does it work well as USB output?

I run it with 2 x 400GB cards with no issues, I know that doesn't answer your question accurately but 2 400s was a risk when I did it and it was fine.

There seems to be a few people expressing their disdain for the player. The comments about the headphone jack, arc are well founded but if you take good care of it it should be fine. Mine sounds tremendous with a pair of Shure SRH1540s.

I still love mine. I have a Ibasso DX220 with an Amp8EX amplifier. It sounds great, but only has a balanced 4.4mm output. Rather than messing around with changing amps or using adapters, if I want to use something with a 2.5 or 3.5mm connector I'll use the Pioneer. I think it compliments the Ibasso nicely.

I like mine. Great sound. But the battery now drains completely every day even with everything turned off, and it’s a major pain in the ass to charge because the USB port is damaged and only works with one specific charger cord carefully balanced in a specific position. I’d be wary about buying a used unit because the ports are so fragile and the battery life only gets worse with use. If you get one that works well, be as gentle as possible with everything you plug into it.

Can the XDR-300R be used as an external USB-DAC for a PC (like the Fiio M11)?

I'm assuming since I can't seem to find an answer, the answer is no. I did search this thread and it was briefly discussed, but I saw no solid confirmation.
