Hi,

I want to get a pair of speakers for my bedroom (3.5x2.5 meters) and I want to know which one of these setups sounds better:

Pioneer SP-BS22-LR + Lepy lp-2020a
or
M-audio AV42 (or another pair of studio monitors in the same price range)

Thanks in advance

Buy these used ($110?) Monoprice 5" studio monitors.
They are re-branded M-Audio BX5a studio monitors.

I would say they would sound different.
Studio monitors are about audio details and the people listening to the studio monitors from a short distance.
Studio monitors like the Monoprice each have two discrete amplifiers built into each unit.
One drives the woofer, the other the tweeter

Speakers like the Pioneer are about more a fun sound or filling your a room with sound.
Each pioneer is driven by one amplifier.
The amp in the lp-2020 may share a lot of hardware between the two channels, so not very discrete channels.

I like studio monitors, everything is self contained.

Thank you, PurpleAngel & cel4145!

But it seems that I can't get the Monoprice! I'm not in the US and Canada and shipping cost to my country is so high (about 150$). So I should choose something that is available in my own country.

What country are you in?

The Pioneers would be consider one of the better values for non-powered speakers.

Well, I bought the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR last day!

But I don't have any amplifier now. I want something under 100 (at most). Which one has better sound quality:

1- Lepai / SMSL / Topping amps
2- Vintage receivers / amps

Thanks in advance

Very old vintage receivers and amps often need to have the electronics refurbished to sound their best. Not sure you get that from a $100 one.

I did a little bit of research and found some options. I prefer to spend less than 50$, but there are some other options above this price point. here is the list:

1.Breeze Audio TPA3116
2x50w / TPA3116 chip

2.Lepai LP-2020A+ (25$)
2x20w / TA2020-20 chip

3.SMSL SA-36A (50$)
2x20w / TDA7492PE chip

Second list:
1.Topping TP23 (70$) (amp/dac)
2x25w / TA2021B chip

2.Topping VX2 (75$) (amp/dac)
2x40w / STA326 chip

3.Topping TP22 (80$)
2x30w / TK2050 chip

4.Topping TP30-MARK2 (85$) (amp/dac)
2x20w / TA2024 chip

1.which one of the first 3 choices are better sounding?
2. if I get one of the pricier options (the next 4 items), would It be really better?

Thanks in advance

Topping makes better quality equipment than the other brand's you are looking at. But get the Lepai if on a tight budget.
