I remember a couple of these were sold in the FS forum recently. Do any of the new (or old) owners have any impressions to post on these? Any comparisons that would be useful?

I'm an old owner. I sold them because I found their sound, overall, to be recessed, especially in the mid-to-lower high frequency range. When I listened to them I felt like I wanted to put my hand in the driver and "pull" the sound out from behind the curtain, so to speak.

For a closed phone, they can't compare to the JVC HA-3, which has a much more balanced sound overall, and are much more comfortable. In a nutshell, I would call the Pioneers the polar opposite of the Beyer 831s.

i had them too. i just didn't like the way the felt, very HOT. they sounded ... OK i guess, just nothing special. also they look very funny on my head, they are big and bulky and clumsy looking i think.
