As much as I love Pioneer's sound (My home theater is almost all Pioneer), I've become more of a Shure fangirl over the years. Almost all of my listening time goes to my SHR840,. SE315, and my recently aquired AKG K340.

Funny you say this, I literally just demoed the SRH840 and they're actually quite pleasant. I've always thought of Shure as the go-to brand for IEMs but it's nice to know they make a good closed can as well.

Currently I'm using Shure SRH440 and I must admit that I love them. But srh440 are slightly uncomfortable and sometimes I want to listen to headphones with wide soundstage, so I'm looking for a pair of simillary sounding open headphones(i love srh440 so much that I could even say that I'm looking for an open 440). The question is - is it worth to buy SE-A1000 or should I look for something different?

I haven't heard the Shure cans but I love my Se A-1000. Those and my DT990 get nearly all my play time. IMO for $50 you can't go wrong with these.

Thanks for reply. What about and amp? Currently I'm using Iriver S100 and I was thinking about buying Fiio E10. Is it worth it? Or should I look for a different amp, because I'm mainly planning to buy these cans for their soundstage and the E10doesn't have a very wide soundstage.

if I recall correctly those are pretty low impedance headphones around 40 ohms resistance so the most common headphone amplifier should be able to drive it without too much difficulty. for what it's worth my project sunrise 2 tube amplifier as well as mine FiiO e17 amp both drive them without any difficulties

Would agree...mine work fine w/E10, Magni, and Bravo Ocean.

since these were 200 to 250 dollar price tag cans when released its a valid comparison

If you say so.

Hi!

I have these headphones under my sight. I actually have a Razer Orca headphone, and I'm happy with it's sound quality but I want to replace them since I started having problems with its building quality (first I got problems with the cable, losing audio in one of the channels, and after solving that, I had problems with the jack: the rubber has detached from the plug) So, they are being serviced, and after the repair. I will probablly sell them and buy another headphones.

This Pioneer SE-A1000 are around 100 dollars here in Argentina. Does anyone here has listened to the Orca and to the SE-A1000 and can give me a comment about what could I expect ?

I repeat, I like a lot how the Orca sounds. I use them to listen to 80's rock, electronic music (most of it Progressive House). I also have a Senheiser HD598 (My dad's) on my house and I think it sound awesome, a lot more "natural" than the Orca, but they are off my budget.

Thanks!

Hi! I'm from Argentina too. I bought these on Musimundo for ar$ 840 and I love them. I listen all kind of music in my amped PC (without an amp the sound is fine) and also use them in the home theater receiver to listen movies. The Pionners are open so have that in mind, but they sound better than any Razer phone IMHO. The bass is moderate (not really punchy). I cannot compare them to the HD598 because haven't tried them.
Sorry for reply you in my poor english but seems more respectfull to the forum this way.
