They are thicker , definitely . And infinitely more comfortable . Not that the stock pads were too uncomfortable .

Are they tighter on your head? I did the headband mod and they are a bit loose and i have a fathead. :frowning2: How much thicker are the pads and are there chinese knockoffs of the 700x on ebay?

I would say yes . I didn't have to do the headband mod myself . I wear a hat a lot , & to me , as is , the headband is fine . I think the  700X pads are at least twice as thick as the stock pads . About the only advantage the stock pads have , is the ear hole is just a little bit larger . I've seen some Chinese pads on ebay , but since I did the swap with my 700X , I didn't pay too much attention to what the Chinese pads cost . I was about to purchase some HM5 velours , but the pad swap with my 700X negated that .

I appreciate it that would be ideal. I bought some knockoff HM5 pleather like pads for my Phillips 3300(great value when on sale for 10-20 bucks) should be getting them soon. They wont fit the Pioneers though cups are smaller. Ill keep an eye out for the 700x pads and will post if i find them. Rhanks CD.

Not a problem ! Getting a pair of 700X pads from China might be best , price wise . I just saw some velours on ebay for the se-a100's (meant for the 700x actually) , for $22 shipped from China . Genuine Audio Technica pads were almost $40 on ebay . Maybe they would be cheaper on Amazon . Actual HM5 pads on Amazon (the standard velour pads) , are $24 , prices go up from there . On ebay , the standard HM5 velours go for around $26-$30 .

Just got these set up wth my SEA1000 hooked up to my Little Dor MKII with rolled tubes. It's sounding fantastic. To me it compares to my modded Fostex T50RPs. The SEA1000 is lacking a bit in bass depth but it performs better in soundstage and space than the Fostex. Both will be getting equaled listening in my book

Would the T50rp be a good compliment to the SE-A1000? I own the SE-A1000, Philips SHP9500, and both the Samson SR850 and SR950 and I was wondering if the T50rp would be a good headphone to get.

I picked up some Hifiman velour pads for $10 on Amazon, they fit the SE-A1000 just fine.

Sweet !! I've been half toying with the idea of going back to my SE-A1000's &/or my SHP9500's from my DT990 Pro's . My DT880 Premiums are in my desk drawer , along with my HD 598 SE's(offered them for trade on my local craigslist , no takers . Their loss :) .

Long time ago....I last posted on head-fi. Is it worth to upgrade to AKG k712 currently priced at 229 Euro? Looks like a great deal to me.
Haven`t upgraded the desk HP`s for a while, maybe as long as my last post. That time has been good for my wallet.

I know I`m reviving an old thread, but the Pioneers are still serving me well
