None of the usual companies makes earpads as large as what this Pioneer has.  Not Beyer, Senn, ATH, AKG, or the Chinese sellers on eBay.  Modifying these pads is pretty much the only way to go.  I've yet to get around to that myself.  I, too, wish the pads were much, much deeper.

Alpha pads can be stretched to fit.

I'm going to try to do just that. Gonna buy a pair of high quality socks and see if I can wrap that around the pads and put some extra foam inside.

I heard about these when the 9500 buzz was created by Z aka Fred Durst. And I was curious about them, but moved onto other things.

I did kinda like the weird look of them.

Reminds me of old scuba gear from eons ago

Why did you say 9500S. Whats the S for?

The S is for a version of the 9500 that only comes with the 3.5 mm cable, without the bag & 1/4" adapter

So I was burgled recently and in addition to several high end sunglasses they got my hd600's. As a result I pulled these back out and forgot how much I enjoy them. Keep my Lawton modded TH-600 and Beyerdynamic in my HT but these are going back in my portable rotation for listening away from home (work / library / commute)

Pads from the ATH AD700X will fit very well . Just got my SE-A1000's today , did a pad swap between the two .

700x look like the Pioneer stock pads what's the difference thicker?
