I've heard that universal DVD players often make for inferior redbook audio players, so I'm curious to know what your thoughts are about using this particular line of Pioneer players (563, 578, and now 588) as a source for regular CDs. I'm interested in hi-res formats as well, so those would be the icing on the cake.
I've read that this line of players uses Burr-Brown DACs, but can't verify that as Pioneer doesn't specifically mention it in their literature. The other question this thread seeks to answer is this: Do the inexpensive Pioneer universal players give a reasonable approximation of the "Burr-Brown sound"?
