i keep hearing about this collection of floyd tracks called "a treeful of secrets." what is it? is it really ~18 cds long? is it a bootleg, and thus could only be found by downloading

, or can it be bought/ordered at a record store? a friend of mine has some wonderful tracks from it, but he doesn't have the whole thing, and doesn't really know what it is, either

thx from a teen who could survive with no other group's music if he had to,
Jack

Is this it? Google is your friend

To me, it looks like obscure bootlegs and outtakes. I doubt the sound quality is good, but I'm sure it's a must-have for any die-hard Floyd fan.

Yeah I'm guessing just a collection of rare recordings/bootlegs/b-sides and such that can't be had anywhere else. I'd love to own this, too, as I am also a hughe Pink Floyd fan. I had heard about this before, but never really knew what it was all about.

what exactly are b-sides?

thaddy, heading higher up on that site (i didn't find it with google before for some reason), there's a big info page on atfos. http://www.winntia.com/html/boxes/pf-atfos.htm

sounds really cool. i wonder how i could get hold of it... it really is 18 cds (17 with music, one with all the covers and booklets for all of the cds with lots of info about every track)

edit: and here's a wikipedia article about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Tree_Full_Of_Secrets

i had trouble finding info before because i was calling it a treeful of secrets, not a tree full of secrets

i have a couple of the rarities disc out of the series. the sound quality is horrible. one of them contains the soundtrack from la panamericana but whoever made it just recorded it from the television. you here the cars zoom by and alot of chatter in the middle of the songs. just so were all on the same page.. tree full of secrets is just a huge collection of bootlegs. the only studio quality songs are outtakes.

but you only have a few of the discs, you said. well, hopefully i'll be able to give some overall impressions soon (bt is my friend at times like this [and i try to buy as much of my music as possible, and i buy whatever i've downlaoded as soon as i can])

I have this collection of CDs - 18CDs and 1 DVD.

Sound quality is absolutely superb - but I've only listened to 12 of the discs - so the others may be rubbish - but I doubt it.

PM me for further details and/or for c o p i e s.

a dvd? what's on that?

i asked my friend who has atfos (his brother gave it to him after getting it from a friend who got it from somewhere else, i dunno, so i doubt it's very high quality at this point down the line) about the quality, and he said he just spent a day going through all the disks deleting what he didn't like and tracks that were basically duplicates of each toher, and he was left with ~1/2 of it. he says it sounds great, and he highly recommends it (especially to floydians like us

I don't know. I haven't watched it yet.

I have so many Pink Floyd DVDs lying around that one of these days, I'll trip over the pile and be forced to start watching them.

Anyone ever hear a Pink Floyd song called “Raving and Drooling”? I’ve seen it mentioned as a live song about 23 minutes long. I don’t think it was ever recorded by the band and only mentioned as a bootleg.

Just wondering.

"Raving and Drooling" was an early version of "Sheep". "Gotta Be Crazy" is an early version of Dogs, performed live before "Wish You Were Here" was recorded.
Initially David Gilmour wanted to record those two songs, along with "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" as the follow up to "Dark Side". Roger balked and insisted that the band record what became "Wish You Were Here".

buying bootlegs doesnt help a band... they get nothing. in an issue of guitarworld from the mid 90's gilmour criticizes the selling of bootlegs.

jatinder- where did you get your copies? ive been looking for nice quality recordings of "small theme", "big theme" and "mexico '78". you sure your last disc is a DVD?

Thanks.

I recently re-discoverd "Obscured by Clouds" and really like #7 "Childhoods End". I can't help thinking it's related to the song "Time" on "Darkside of the Moon".
