If anyone has pictures of actual photos of ATH-A500s in action or any pictures at all could you post them here please? My ATH-A500s arrive in 2 days and I need something to hold me off

Yeah, mine is known to be a "unique" case. The A500s are very fine headphones and have really nice sound (The low end is REALLY surprising), just don't set your expectations too high. I can take some more pictures if you would like, just ask

EDIT: Founds some other pictures that I took a while back:

Enjoy them. I miss mine. The XD400 is a remarkably similar substitute, though. I had very high expectations [before the arrival of the A500's], and they were thourouhly exceeded, esp. regarding soundstage, spaciousness, unamped performance, and the bass extention. Were it not for my DT531's, I would probably still using my A500's as my main cans. Still the best movie can I've experienced.

Sooo you say the XD400 is very similar to the a500's? was there a big difference in SQ? do they have the same signature? and how's gaming compared?

Glad you're enjoying 'em, Will! What are your impressions of them? Have you watched an action movie yet? Try Gladiator or The Matrix sometime.

A bit too much bass for music that does overpower the mids, and I love my mids

Agreed. Mmmmm...mids... The AKG240s has taken care of that for me, but I miss the huge soundstage and very "movie" sound of the A500s.

I think my earlier post was unclear -- I've edited it. But, yes, IME the XD400 is very reminiscent of the A500. I compare them here . The signature, construction, and comfort seemed very similar to me.

I don't game, so I don't know how they compare for this -- perhaps J-Pak could elaborate more.
