Hi, I currently am using a cowon d2->headsave classic-> Beyerdynamic dt990

I'm in the market for a new dac but am contemplating on either replacing the hs classic and getting a pico or predator, or getting a new zero dac.

I bought the hs classic for $100 so in total with the zero dac $200, it will of costed me $300.

Whereas a pico/predator would cost about $500/

I'm not really worried about portability because I don't really bring my DT 990 anywhere and am just deciding upon sound quality and ejoyment.

I listen to metal, jpop/jrock, classical, jazz and basically everything except rnb/hip hop

Thanks for your input

The Zero (the desktop amp from China, right?) has coaxial and optical inputs, but not 3.5 mm (1/8") input jacks, so you would have to use some adapter. I have a D2 too, but I decided to get a PCDP with optical output to pair with my Zero (in this case an iRiver SlimX iMP-550). Nice combo.

zero->classic->dt 990

or
pico/predator dac + amp - > dt 990
no line out

some people are telling me that because of their nature, a desktop would be better than a portable is this true?
