Hi hi.
1st post on Head-Fi (!).
I just recently (read: yesterday) recieved my AKG K601's from Headroom.
My previous headphones were the Grado SR-60's, and I wanted a change from the "in your face" sound signature of the Grados.
I ordered the headphones along with the Total Airhead amp, and I've been pleasantly surprised at how airy/open the headphones sound even without the crossfeed activated.
The high's are great, and there is a lot of detail in the midrange. At the low end, the headphones have no problem playing the very lowest notes with ease. Although the bass is pretty well extended, it lacks punchiness at the lower frequencies.
As well, I had the chance recently to listen to a pair of KSC75's, and I was amazed at how good they sounded. Comparing them to the K601's, I'd have to say that the KSC75's were much punchier, and warmer sounding.
Would it improve with burn-in? The headphones sound pretty cold, and I'm wondering if this is an actual attribute of the K601's...or if they're supposed to get warmer?
Thanks!
