... from eBay, for a grand total of $1.00 (not including shipping), and got a free Sony 4.5v adapter with it... hell, I would have paid $1.00 for the adapter alone. This is another "Made in China" version with yellow Elna capacitors. I now know these were also made in Malaysia, and can't vouch for the sound quality of those.

How does it sound... basically, same as the other one I have. Warm, sweet and detailed, pitch black between notes, with an immense soundstage. Still the best sounding PCDP I've ever heard. One of these days I'm gonna have to do a full review (maybe after I pick up a third one, so prices stay low

).

For some reason, the laser takes longer to seek on this one. It probably has been stored in a garage or something, cuz there's a little corrosion (not much) on the circuit board. The headphone jack is dead in one channel and I'm not going to bother to fix it, since I listen exclusively through line out, amped. It's not good to pull up the boards on these, since they're really difficult to reseat properly and it's easy to break switches, etc. Condition is always iffy with used PCDP's, especially if they have issues to start with (like the headphone jack on this player).

Still interested if/when someone else manages to pick up a D-171 (Made in China is the only factory sourced model I've evaluated) so we can compare notes. Feel free to bump this thread, no matter how long it's been since I posted this.
