Thanks for the reccommendation, I'll look into this....

Another good trio is the Tord Gustavson trio. He/They have been compared to Bill Evans, and I can see why sometimes....they have at least 2 or 3 CD's out....

I will check this one out. Thanks.

If you like Ahmad Jamal then try In Search of Momentum as well. It's intense.

Try EST (Esbjorn Svensson Trio). It's on of the best (Nordic Jazz) trio's out there. Tord is great as well.

Thanks for the tip! I just discovered Jamal and his work is amazing!

Just listening to Andrew Hill's "Passing Ships" and it's a fairly large scale effort. The piano is a bit muted though

The AJ Live in Paris piano jumps right out into the room!!!
The sound engineering is superb and elevates the performance to the sublime IMO

Check out artists from ECM.

Tord Gustavsen Trio is one of them. Their trilogy album is a must-have.
Changing Places (2003), The Ground (2005), Being There (2007).

For a great jazz piano trio, try Michale Wolff's 2AM. It is one of the best recorded cd's I have.
