Philips Fidelio X2?!

Does anyone know of any good replacement cables I can get for these without cloth? The brushing noise the stock cable can make is starting to get to me.

Tried the "Audioquest Golden Gate" and "Oehlbach XXL i-Jack" both did fall back behind the original X2-Cable, Audioquest even with horrible microfonia.

Finally found the "Van de Hul - The Tide" with Viablue Connectors which even managed to improve the sound without any microfonia whatsovever.

Purchased them here: https://www.dienadel.de/van-den-hul-the-tide-high-end-klinkenverbindung/a-353630832/

So right now I have the X1s and the AKG K712. Part of me thinks that the upgraded X2 would fix the problems I have with the X1 and not have the harshness the K712 can have, but I'm still not sure if the change from X1 to X2 really is that significant.

Feeling that wanderlust, y'all. Any input on if I should go with it or stick where I'm at?

My understanding is that X2 is a significant upgrade compared to X1. You should read Tyll's review if you haven't already to get some insight on the differences.

But I absolutely love how X2 sounds. Not harsh at all, great with metal, etc.

I just couldn't wait any longer for the a deal to show up on the X2's in the UK, so I hopped on the 6 Hungry Weasels Amazon offer. Will be A/B ing with the HD650's I recently purchased, will be returning one of them. i'm what id call a semi audiophile, I care a lot about audio quality but i'd prefer enjoyment over correctness any day. So hopefully i'll prefer these X2's

X2 is definitely more engaging than HD650, which seemed a little boring to me. If I wanted to go back to Sennheiser, I'd rather get a HD600, but while it shines with certain genres, it's still not as versatile as X2.

Great to hear :) Everyone was raving about the HD650's saying they were unbeatable for the price, bought them, then the next day stumbled upon this thread and was curious how I hadn't heard of these before :p

Everybody and their grandma have heard the HD650, so they're universally praised and easily recommended. Not many have heard an X2, so they're not recommended nearly as much. For me they're a hidden gem in this price category. I honestly preferred them to my (now sold) Audeze LCD-2F.

I heard LCD 2.2 , He 400 Philips X2, but none have Bass impact When DT990 is paired with Beyerdynamic A20.

I haven't heard the DT, but X2 has a little more bass impact than LCD-2F, maybe little less tight and textured.

As a former LCD-2 owner (pre-F) that is INSANE praise and now I'm ultra curious. I love my X1s, but not that much. May end up doing a trade soon...

I've heard from multiple owners of both of these headphones mention that they've returned LCD-2's because they weren't worth the cost after they listened to X2's. That's what got me so excited about these

My understanding (according to Tyll) is that X2 is more refined and balanced, with better controlled bass, which elevates them from a solid hi-fi into a budget audiophile group with the likes of HD600, etc.
And I wholeheartedly agree. I would even go so far as to say that it trades blows with a much higher competition.

Worth noting that my only problem with X2 is some (minor) cosmetic issue I'm having due to somewhat lacking QC. I've just sent a second pair back to Amazon (their support proves to be amazing again and again unlike Philips', which is yet to respond to my RMA request...) and it's a bit frustrating at this point. Looks like they've got a whole bad batch and there's no other place to buy them in US. So now I just hope they will run some investigation and sort it out with Philips (as promised). It's a very well-built and beautiful headphone otherwise.
