I have been setting up a 2nd listening station in my bedroom. I was looking for a simple and inexpensive alternative and after reading a recommendation here by hciman77 I ordered one. Circuit City has them on sale and when you put it in the cart the discount is $20 instead of the advertised $10. I paid $53 delivered.

The unit arrived today and so far I am very happy with it. Heck can not beat the price and the sound is much better than what my old Fisher PCD-9200 portable CD player was able to supply.

Currently I hooked it up using the supplied IC (not bad for $0.50

) I may splurge and get a pair of Blue Jeans IC's in the near future.

Well lets go back to listening.

I picked up one of these a few months back for use as a region-free DVD player. It's currently only connected to my old tv via basic RCA video cables, rather than the component-outs, and picture quality is not so great. Far worse than the Sony I recently sold when using the same connectors. I hope using the component-outs when I upgrade my tv eventually will make a big difference.

Never listened to an audio CD on it.

Oh, and the remote is a pain. I can't tell you how many times I've forwarded to the next chapter of a movie instead of just fast-forwarding

.

As a backup DVD player that can play foreign discs it's fine, especially for the money (I paid same as you at BestBuy for a new one with a slightly damaged cardboard box. The player was untouched), but as your prime movie player, it doesn't cut it, imo. Might make an ok transport for something like a Benchmark DAC1, Apogee Mini-DAC, or similiar device.

Glad you like it. The remote *is* a human factors failure especially for MP3 playback and MP3 without a monitor is next to impossible. Picture quality wise - I cannot judge as I use mine with a 5 inch LCD monitor which I also use to watch Golf on. CD sound is however surprisingly good, I basically bought mine for MP3 playback as I use my portable MP3 player at work but I was genuinely impressed at the sound and how quiet the transport was apart from seek operations. I have heard that it is not the most robust thing in the world so it may not last forever but at that price it is a fair gamble...

I use mine just for music, either mp3 cd's or regular cd's. It feeds my PinkFloyd modified MF X-Can V3 and either a Senn HD600 or AKG K701 or K340. This is on my night stand.

hciman77 if you do not mind, would you PM the information on the monitor you use for the mp3's. Thanks.
