Perun electrostatic headphone impressions

Just shipped the Rock back. Arthur is going to put in the new bass drivers in. Which be awesome if it gives same bass as 1266. It seems Perun has speaker tech but doesn't talk about it. If they put two diaphragm I would patent my headphone and mention it. Whatever they do it works.
Do you mean there's a new and improved version of the Perun Rock? A Perun Rock V2?

No impressions, but I was wearing N95. They’re actually still heavy with water. I’ll let you all know when I get the outstanding out-of-pocket amount ($790 CAD) refunded. Sad!
Perhaps the mold makes the sound more lively?
On a serious note, I feel for you. 90+ days in transit is a helluva long time to get this. My condolences.

Hey I ordered a set of the Rock a few weeks ago. They will be actually my first electrostatic headphones except for some electret IEMs.

One thing I've been wondering if people have tried different amplifiers with them and found differences in sound?

I have a Stax SRD-7 Professional adapter ready that will be powered by both a Yamaha S202D class a/ab stereo amp and an Original Audio OPA-5A which is a transformer output SET tube amp with 12au7 and KT88 tubes with speaker taps output rated for 8 watts (4500mw for xlr headphones output).

It could be possible to get a dedicated amp later. Are there any particular recommendations with these?

Oh and the SRD7 Pro seems to be specified at max 8W continuous RMS and 30W peak. So could that 8W from the OPA-5A be enough for it?

Here is my version of Perun Live Sound.
I would say the most big impression is Bass responce. It is very very deep, up to 20Hz. I've never heard this before.
Some examples: "Why so serious" -Hanz Zimmerer, time 3:20-4:20, very very low bass as earthquake, this headphones can play this the same like DALI Opticon 8 for example.
"Invincible" - TOOL, this is good examle of very quick bass like Drum'n'Bass. Perun plays this also very quick, thanks to electrostatis nature of HPs.
I use CCS modded 006tII to power HPs and Denafrips Ares II as DAC. I have been tested this HPs about couple weeks and now want to try somethig else, any tipps?

Well other electrostats lack the ability to perform down to 20hz like Perun does it. Only one that sounds a bit normal is Nectar Hive. Nectar Hive sounds full but not as good as my Rock. My Rock sounds close to my 1266.

Have u tried to mod Hive? It can easily toned more neutral to warm side with different earpads and the sponge at back. Hive can do 20 Hz but its not very audible.

I like the stock pads. I would need to see if increasing depth helps by making rings and attach bigger diameter ear pad.

Treble gets bad If u go bigger than 100mm. Pleather gets harder after while. I recommend sheepskins If you like stock sound. They are a lot more comfy. If not then angled gives a warmer sound.

That sucks because of the pads touching. That was only reason to modify them. I'll be honest they are just a non value collector item. If It put estat on its Rock.

I'm discussing with Arthur to put an order for the Rock. I think that if it does not suit my taste i'll fall back on a Soltanus Euridiche that I could try a couple of months ago and that gave me the "whoa effect".

Anyway, kudos to all these "small" designers that make some nice gems out there

So I picked up my Rock from my shipping center. It didn't take longer then 8 days. First time was couple or few months.

I sent them for imbalance. Arthur wrote back and said they'll put some new double bass driver in. I liked them how they sounded in first place. I have ocd for things being balanced.

ill post impressions of what they did.

So I let them charge for a few they made zero noise during charge. Pressed play and slowly brought the volume to good level and balance harmony there. Bass I'd say is ridonculous! Playing my usual dubstep and drum & bass with sub bass better then planars. These make Stax sound like a old man's headphone. Holographic and not using tubes. Amp and source are Stax 353x energizer and Denafrips Pontus 2 DAC.

I can see something different through the grill cloth, It's kinda blue and thick looking.
It sounds better.
