My 5 years old samsung laser printer stopped working today.
I guess it is time to get another printer. Could you guys recommend me a personal laser printer? I would like to have it under $200 and I prefer a paper tray that can be placed inside the printer. Thanks.

Ditto to post #3. You could even get a Brother 2040N from Staples for $129.99 - $50.00 Rebate = $79.99 I have this unit. It is a refurb. Works Great. You will not get a laser network printer for anywhere near this price.

Sounds like Brother printer is worth trying.
I will check on those models above, 2040N and 2070N.

I have a few question for you two recommends brother printer.
I read something about paper curling problem on review site. Is it bothering you? How long have you used the printer?

Thanks a lot.

I have a MFC-2820 at home.

At work I have installed 2 - MFC-7220's 1 - MFC-7420 1 - HL-2040N and I vaguely remember a paper curling problem but I think it was more a paper quality problem. Nothing recently, knock wood.

It has been 2 years since we bought the first one. One printer had paper feed problems but Brother replaced it under warranty.

Any reason why you want to go laser? Resolution suffers on laser. WIth todays new printers (specifically HP) you also get lower cost per page. Also, some HP's are faster than most lasers out there without the crappy warm-up time.

You only advantage of laser is that there is no smearing of ink since it is burned on the paper. Good for flyers, bad for photos.

I got a refurbished Brother HL-5250DN. Duplexes, prints 30PPM, replacement costs are WAY cheap, and it was $150 shipped from Staples.com. A new toner with 7000 pages worth of toner in it costs a mere $90. What's not to like?

I've had my Samsung ML-1610 for ages now, probably like 2 years. Got it refurbished for $70 Canadian and never looked back. Of course just to refill it costs $50, but who cares, it's a small price to pay every couple of years for something that prints, is fairly quiet and gave me not a single problem. Never had to replace the cartridge yet
