for those interested in this amp, I emailed the australian distributer of perreaux products and asked about this amp. He said the current SXH1 is still available for $699 AUD and that the SXH2 would be available next month for approx $1000 AUD. I don't know what the deal is with overseas availablility.

I have a friend looking at a new Perreaux SXH2 tomorrow at Totally Wired(dunedin NZ)
The price here is about NZ$900(a couple of dollars under I think).
That's about US$590.
We have 12.5% local tax on everthing here, it's taken of exported items which would bring the price down , however it seems that NZ Perreaux agents must now reffer any enquiries to the appropriate distributor in the country concerned.

Well its fair to say that its more than a distinct possibility that the SXH2 might be considerably better if it costs more, so dont write them off just yet.

i thought SXH-1 in New Zealand is around 600 dollars something, and thats the RRP, so real price must be lower ?
I suppose price in NZ and Australia shouldnt differ so much considering that its just next door... so i was thinking that SXH-1 in Australia was around 500-ish ?

The prices quoted to me were straight from the Australian distributor but as you point out street prices are probably lower (like anything if a dealer is keen enuff to make a sale they will do a bit of discounting)

Couldn't you get a fully pimped-out PPA that sounds much better for those same $590?

I paid NZ$695 for mine in April this year. There aren't many agents for Perreaux here in NZ and those that are aren't the sort to get into price cutting.

Well on the SX-H1 I bought (and returned) I paid A$649 without any bargaining from the Australian Distributor. Great return policy. If they keep the return policy the SX-H2 might well be worth a serious look... but at $1,000 its actually more than the Talisman 3H.

Call me biased but it will take a great amp to beat the Talisman. But the Perreaux has "creature features" I admire: two headphone jacks and an on/off switch. But it will be the sound that sells to most of us!

Cannot wait for the first review.

Cheers,

TonyAAA
