Hey everyone. Yesterday I had a heavenly experience with the HD 600/Cosmic/D25S combo. It was really out of this world.
anyway I was wondering if any of the newer PCDP's have a similar line out to the D25S. I have access to the D-CJ01, D-EJ721, and the D-EJ1000 locally. I'd appreciate any and all fedback/opinions concerning this, as I'd like to try to replicate THAT sound in a portable way (on the go anyway).

Thanks
Bill

Hi,
I don't think any of those mentioned unit has an excellent line out like yours D-25s (I based my experience on other units, D-303, D-555, D-311, and D-515).

Sony D-CJ01's line out is nothing in comparison to my older units, pretty much lacks deth, soundstage, and sound life less. Your best bet is to pick up the ej-1000. I have the Ej-01, and the EJ-01 has about 75% percent of my D-303's line out(Again, I based my answer on the EJ-01). Good luck.

Williamsgoody,
I never did had a chance of checking out the ej-1000. I however, had tried the D-E925, and EJ-01...and i concluded that their line out performance are roughly similar. I based my experience on this. Oh, Duncan, also mention that the D-EJ905'line out and D-EJ1000 is about the same, so..... I have D-E905, D-EJ01, and used to have D-EJ925...so I could easily estimated the line out performance of the EJ-1000. I find the D-EJ925 to be very sexy looking.

And that goes for a lot more than just PCDPs.

The D-515 squashes the lineout out of the d-825 imo. Thats the only old sony vs. new sony comparison I can give you.

I recently got the opportunity to hear a DE-J01's line out through my Cmoy. People are not bluffing when they say this is probably the best line out you can currently get in modern day portables. It smoked both my Panasonic 570 and Sony D-465's line outs. It had a much fuller, bigger sound, and sounded the least compressed among the three. The D-465's lineout isn't bad, but it has a tendency to sound harsh in the treble, and its midrange is nowhere near as full as the J01's. The 570 was the one that noticeably sounded compressed...smaller, collapsed soundstage, thin, and actually not as loud as the J01's line out.

No wonder why I use my Sonys (D-EJ1000 and D-EJ721) with my TAH, and my Panasonic SL-SW850 unamped...
