Just want to say I have been reading posts for about an hour now and came up with some great ideas. One thing I did not see was 5.1 headsets, which I am sure is just from a lack of reading.

It started with looking at a wireless headset (with mic) and then decided I wanted better sound quality. I looked at 5.1 because I play PC games and it is nice to hear were someone is coming from. As I researched these headsets I began to read some flames about 5.1 headset is just a gimmick and lack in quality.

The 5.1 sets I looked at were the Medusa 5.1 home edition along with a GameCon777 from plantronics...I believe that a zalman was in there as well.

What do the users at head-fi.org think about a 5.1 headset??

As I was reading I came across a link to a Beyerdynamic MMX2 gaming set..I was curious that the ear cup is a bit small..

So do i go stereo or 5.1?

I will use the sets for pc gaming, music and movies.
The music I listen to varies a lot. , from pink floyd to rap in a heartbeat.
The movies are the basic dvd releases...

I need a mic and would like to have a USB interface or a 5.1 that supports the 4 port method. One port for fronts, one for rear, one for both center/subwoofer and the lasty for a mic..

5.1 multi-driver headsets are crap.

DSP, such as Dolby Headphone Tech. does 5.1 very well in a pair of regular high quality stereo headphones.
