i'm looking to buy one of the new hard drive dap's, and the decision is complicated enough already, but i have to ask about one factor that may seem trivial to some folks, but is very significant for anyone who listens to music with long tracks (jazz, classical, some techno and experimental music, etc.)

please tell me whether the Creative Nomad Zen (incl. NX), Iriver ihp-100, Rio Karma or Nitrus, or any others, have a stop control that allows you to resume exactly where you left off (like sony cdp's), in the middle of a track, or, alas, require that you "resume" (actually restart) at the beginning of the track (as do panasonic cdp's).

my Rio S30S is terrific, except for just that factor: if i stop in the middle of a track, i can't pick up wbere i left off, but have to restart the track, and i find that HIGHLY annoying.

thanks.

The iPod can. Audible.com makes it a requirement for being able to play their audiobook files (which are often 7-8 hours long), so you may want to look at their supported players list. If something isn't on the list, it could be for other reasons though (like not being able to play .aa files).

press pause on the zen, after a while it shuts itself off (depending on what you set the timer to) when you turn it back on just hit the pause/play button and it picks up where you left off.

In addition, the Nomad OS (Zen; NJB3) have "bookmark" feature where you can make a point in any track and go right to that point.
