Has anyone ever used a pair of these on the InPol EAR? I'm just looking for the Amperex 7308 that enhances bass on the InPol Ear, according to Kevin, but I have quickly learnt that the tag "Amperes 7308" points to a very dizzyingly wide variety of tubes, and I do not think all of them are equally good, and I am no expert in sorting out genuinely great tubes from snake oil, which is why I am asking :
Hi, I'm not an expert on tubes, but the ebay listing seems overpriced and it's not clear what the tubes are except 6922. Also, not stated whether they are a matched pair. I wouldn't trust that listing. There are different types of Amperex 7308 which from what I can tell are all similar good quality. You have to specifically look for 7308 type, maybe even the military Jan version.
It’s difficult to wait for the full burn-in and not say anything, but I’ll just say that I still prefer the sound of the Pathos amp with Susvara to my speaker amp/adapter box setup, with the exception of listening to dance/electronic music, for which the bass and transient impact of the speaker amp/adapter box excel. The tonality and ethereal quality to the sound of the Pathos amp with Amperex tubes on the Susvara is just superb, very hard to beat.
I thought I would do a quick update on my set up. A little while back my system just started to sound really wonderful, as I mentioned I thought the following, the new Utopia's and the Silver Dragon cables had fully bedded in, or the Qutest had bedded in as all were new. So yesterday I removed the Reflector valves that I had recently bought and put back the Siemens which were well run in and listened for a while and thought it was nice but seems to have lost something. So I put the Reflectors back in let it warm up and for sure my sound came back. So it looks like they suit my system, I did pay the extra to buy a balanced pair but I think they are worth it.

I find the Siemens tubes sound a little too “clean” and almost solid-state to me. They’re good if you want a very linear sound, but lack the euphony of other tube types in the Pathos.
The Denafrips Athena preamp/Keces S300 amp combo is good for Susvara, but it's a little too clean for my tastes. I'm just not happy going that route and trying to use EQ to give back what I feel is missing.
The Pathos InPol Ear (as a preamp)/Keces S300 amp combo is also good for Susvara, but it lacks that extra oomph I'm looking for. I love the tube sweetness, but it doesn't hit hard enough.
So I have gone the Frankenroute(TM) by using two preamps, Athena --> InPol Ear (as a preamp) --> S300 amp. This might be similar to using iFi's iTube2 tube buffer on steroids, to add extra tube flavor to solid-state amplification. It gives me tube sweetness + hard-hitting slam, a wonderful lead-filled velvet glove slap to my ears.
Suffice to say I'm quite happy with my setup now. No need for EQ with this combination.
I was looking through a hifi dealers web site and came across the Hifiman EF1000 headphone amp, looked really fabulous nice bit of kit but at nearly £13000 in the UK I did gulp a bit, but I guess that would drive your Susvara's nicely.
I guess this hifi ladder is an expensive thing to climb, every time I buy something expensive I say to myself 'that's enough now' like I did with the Stellia's and Arche I thoroughly enjoy it at the time but you always think could I go one stage further and usually do.
The EF1000 is a Pathos Inpol EAR on Growth Hormone and Anabolic Steroids.
I had an Inpol EAR on loan driving my susvaras whilst I awaited for my EF1000 to be built.
The Inpol EAR is a very nice amp. But the EF1000 is in another league i.e. for UK football analogy; Inpol EAR is in the 1st Division, EF1000 in Premier League !
The EF1000 was just over twice the price of the Inpol EAR for me as I bought the EF1000 with the Susvara as a combo in the UK.
For me it is worth it for the musical enjoyment & pleasure the EF1000 & Susvara combo gives me.
Great to know it's paring w/ the Susvara(the sophisticated Blonde). You should hear Inpol's(the Girl Next Door) relative the Valkyria(the sexy Red Head). Right @xtr4?
It's not that high maintenance(amp pairing), but it will rock you none the less.
