Which Grados are you interested in? I've always read that flats were meant for the woodies (RS series) and maybe 325is.

I haven't tried the 414 pads but for comfort I rate them:

C-Pads
comfies
flats
bowls

For SQ I rate them:

flats
bowls
comfies
C-Pads

(bowls and comfies are a tie here depending on music type)

Of course these are my preferences and I know not everybody feels this way.

i guess it depends on what kinda music i'm listening to and what kinda mood i'm in
and how i'll be listening

hd414 or comfies if i want that extra slam, a bit more bass, and comfort

bowls if i have the time and energy to really enjoy and listen to my music

i've been reaching for my comfies lately, but i voted hd414 because they're cheaper

It's difficult to choose between bowls and flats. Bowls open up the sound so much. They sound tinny without a warm source/amplification however.
Flats add so much body to the sound, especially the bass and the drums. They do sound congested in comparison though.
I've gone from flats to bowls, and back to flats again, so you could say I'm undecided.
