How well will the pa2v2 power the k271s? I've heard they're pretty hard to power. The pa2v2 didn't really cut it for my k501s, but they're higher impedence.

The 55 Ohm rating for the K271 is pretty deceptive. You'll certainly get enough volume from the PA2V2, but there are amps that don't cost too much more that would be far better up to the task.

It's a million times better! The pa2v2 couldn't really drive my k501s. Go with the LD2++. They've fixed some problems from the LD2+.

Which headphones is this for?

Do you have any specific suggestions? I'm considering a DIY project, like building a pimeta. Would that be sufficient?

I don't, sorry. I got rid of my K271 before I really started getting into amps and only ever used it with a Xin SuperMini-III and Little Dot Micro+. Both provided ample volume but that's all I can remember.
