I haven't seen much (anything?) about the digital output from the 0404 USB. You're using it as a USB-to-optical converter? How well does that work?

Really no idea. I have an optical output in the drive bay thing that came with my Audigy 2 zs but I disconnected that and took it out years ago and can't find the cable to connect it to the sound card itself... not exactly hard to replace, but if any of you have the Antec P180 case you might know how ridiculously tough it can be to manuever in.
So I'm just using my EMU 0404 usb.. I don't really have anything to compare it to, but i certainly notice differences when feeding my new Monarchy M24 vs just using the EMU 0404 usb as a DAC. Perhaps a better drive like an EMU 1212m is really called for... and I might look into that when my headphone purchases settle down a little ;p
