Oriolus Hybrid IEM

  Yes.
Hence, the importance of cable.
The PWAudio No.5 made it an instant buy.

I tried the tg334 side by side with the Oriolus version 2 (the one with PWAudio No. 5 cable) for about 30 mins and notwithstanding my sentimental yearning for tg334, I concluded the Oriolus version 2 was clearly superior.

In another german Oriolus-thread someone who has both mk1 and mk2 (with PWAudio No.5 cable) has compared the two and his findings were that the mk2 is a bit better (slightly clearer and more pronounced highs) but as soon as you switch cables the difference is minimal. He mentioned that for those who have the mk1 (like myself) the cable upgrade is a better option than buying the mk2 instead. Would anyone who has both confirm that?

@Fizban you seem to have both versions as well, did you try the new cable on the mk1? As I heard from the distributor some time ago the mk2 has the same drivers as the mk1, the only differences are a slight change in the housings and the cable however. I am actually not a believer of cables, but here it seems to make a difference

I do not have mk1, but if the China version of supposed mk2 is anything to go by, Jap version is a marked and clear improvement over the "Chinese version".
The Chinese version made me go "yeah a good quality iem but what's so special about these?".
THe Jap version made me simply go "Wow. I NEED to compare these to TG334 cos it is so good".
TG334 was my go-to dream iem.

Your findings are consistent with manufacturer's claims that indeed the largest change going from mk1 to mk2 are the cables, with a more rigid housing.

Well it seems mine is the "inferior" Chinese version, but to be honest I don't really care since the thing sounds good enough for me already. While I do consider myself a cable believer, I'd rather not venture into uncharted territories and put my money into things that are better guaranteed to make a difference, like a good DAP for example. Can anyone share his/her opinion on how this thing performs with the Onkyo DP-X1?

Yup I used it with an onkyo DP-X1.
Splendid.
Clarity and layering, with wide soundstage and accurate placement in imaging.
Bass not as strong as I'd have liked on EDM but really punchy and clean.

I had tried both Dita the Truth version and Oriolus v1 before biting the bullet on Oriolus v2.

I won't consider Oriolus if copper cable is the only option. I'm fall in love immediately after shifted to silver cable. The copper cable is not from PW audio though.

We offer copper, but the one pictured is gold plated copper.

Thank you very much!
Copper vs Copper/Gold what will be the difference soundwise?

Gold Plated Copper offers a more warmer sound. Mids and lows are more emphasized, so if you are into bass heavy music (EDM, rap, rock, etc.), this would be a very good choice.

I do listen to "EDM, rap, rock". I will demo some of your cables soon.
