You'll be fine. All is well. You'll get more money. Probably, with hindsight you'll see them as cheap.

Enjoy. Congratulations. May your seal be effortless.

Expensive up-front they are, however, over time you will save money by not buying 50 other pairs of headphones.

I've had the 4S's for less than a week. If your 4P's sound anything like my 4S's, and you know and/or like what reference sound is, when you get a good seal your jaw will drop to the floor. They are that good!

How's that for positive reinforcement.

If you do a search you will find that the differences between the 4P and 4S have been discussed before. I have to say that quite often I prefer the sound of ther 4P to the S. I know that there's always a period of adjustment when changing headphones but I really don't think the differences are that obvious.

Good decision getting the 4P - at least you can experiment with adaptor cables to offer 4S (4X>?) capability without spending a fortune.

I personally think the Etymotic ER4P represents the best value for money in top-end headphones - period!

Then I purchased 4P but uncle flicked them (long story)

Dad gave me his 4S's and I went into bliss
Uncle leaving the country and he gave the 4P's back to me
what a steal

(because he paid for the 4P's when he flicked them)

Now I'm buying another pair for my girl for Christmas

Muhahahahha

So dad keeps 4S

I keep the free 4P's

and girl gets a pair of 4P's

Everone happy

(not quite...I want to try custom earmoulds as I dont always get a perfct seal with the silicones and the foamies wear out too often for me...I live quite far from Etymotic and Headroom yknow

Well, this worked out really well for you, disturbed.

But why did your uncle leave without his etys?
Aren't they portable and plane-friendly enough?

I mean if there ever was a pair of headphones perfectly suited for travelling, it's the Etys...

Well, he purchased the etys so there is no reason for his uncle to not return it. It MY uncle took MY etys and left, I'd seriously harrass/torture/threaten/molest him till he returns them
