A new HA2-SE? Odd that it did not appear on Amazon France, who usually show a link to items on Amazon Germany. Now that has given me a dilemma
However the Oppo service issue still remains. No Oppo service or Beyerdynamic service 6 miles away? :nerd:

Many thanks for the link to Amazon.de

Just bought a very good condition used set. The cable is way too long! Anybody have a suggestion for a good replacement?
I'm liking the sound and comfort though

In the UK I bought a Custom Cans silk covered Litz braid. Excellent cable and nice folk to deal with. Sadly the burglars last Monday liked it as well. They will make the cable in the length and colour you want. You have to mention it is for PM3, as it needs a long nose 3.5mm plug.

They still have the portable cables available on their website.

Other than that, no real recommendations from me. Just make sure whatever you get has either a low profile plug or one with an extended collar on at least one end. Just beware that the Amphenol KS3PC does not work.

If you fancy a quality cable tailored to your needs, you can ask Matt of Forza Audioworks how much would this cost. What he makes is solid and he never let us down.

Just to let folks know, my final decision was to buy a pair of ex-demo Beyerdynamic T5P 2nd Generation phones (the top of their range), conventional rather than planar magnetic but meticulously made along with their matching Impacto universal DAP. In the end it was the service issue along with the nasty PU pleather on the Oppo PM3 ear pads that just swung it in favour of the Beyerdynamic set up. I just hope I don't find the T5P phones too middle of the road.

I really like these headphones, comfortable and non fatiguing. Shame they don't make them anymore! They really scale up with better equipment too

I got some cheap earpads from Aliexpress (these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32972934540.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.13664c4dntBsGY), but I'm not sure how I'm going the mount them and am curious if what you guys experiences are. Right now I put 'm straight on the earcups, they fit well but it doesn't look very nice around the edges because the material that your wrap around it is slightly too long (not big, because it fits well). I could also wrap 'm around the old plastic holder I salvaged from my old earpads, but then I'd have to cut of the material that you wrap around it and glue it. Has anyone done that?

Here you can see what I mean by the material being too long.

Yes, it's a shame, Oppo carved themselves quite the career in the audio industry.

PM-3, valves, vinyl, and a Vesper... Not bad for a Tuesday night.

Hey everyone, awesome thread, thanks for continuing to discuss your mods and impressions long after this headphone was released and discontinued!

I recently found a very lightly used PM-3 at a local shop, with minimal wear on the pads and headband but lacking the 3m cable, for $250 USD, and as I've been in need of a portable headphone, I jumped on it. Have to say I'm really happy with them, even without the discount. Using a Centrance DACPort HD between the cans and my iPhone yields a massive improvement, especially in the treble, as compared to straight from the iPhone. The VModa Speakeasy 3-button is a nice improvement on stock cable in terms of connector strength and microphonics (aside from reduced microphonics I don't notice any change in sound).

My only complaint is that the pleather earpads are pretty hot while I'm active. What I'd really like is to switch to velour for better breathability, but I'm scared of losing precision and bass. Has anyone tried out the Brainwavz velour pads, or any other velour pads, and if so, can you post your impressions as compared to stock?

The issue of the heat / poor breathability is annoying, but not so much that I feel absolutely compelled to go with velour right now, SQ be d@mned. I'm willing to suffer for now while enjoying the precise sound I never thought I'd be able to afford , but my guess is that there will come a day when I really want to make this mod -- perhaps as my stock pleather pads begin to wear out, as I'm sure they will. I'm thankful for all of the reviews of sheepskin, but I don't think that will give me the breathability I'm after.

    Thanks in advance!

Let us tell you that pads introduce audible change, but everything you like about your headphones won't be lost. Highly likely you'll still enjoy them as much as you do now.
