Thanks in advance for looking.

I have some PM-3 headphones that are, well, high mileage. I was a road warrior pre-Covid, so I took them with me all over the world. Most times I would just put them in my laptop bag, without the case.

The ear pads and the headband are flaking off pretty badly. I replaced the ear pads with a set of brainwaivz, and they’re ok. I can’t really find a solution for the headband.

Any suggestions?

I simply picked off the black "leather", leaving the fabric substrate. Probably not the most durable, but certainly easy. Others use a knit headband cover, and I've read about some people using grip tape for a tennis racket. There's also Vesper Audio in Europe that does custom ear pads and headbands, but of course you have to send them in. Sorry, I can't think of the which country they're located in.

You could try the official PM-3 thread for more ideas.

Thanks for the reply. I’m in the US, so shipping them probably isn’t worth it. I’m afraid the foam is going to get destroyed next, then I’d have a real problem I think.

Some kind of a cover is a good idea, though it may look strange. I’m not sure that matters much at this point

I’ll check the other thread out. Thanks for the link.

I forgot to mention things like the Geekria covers. I think there are many different brands/sizes/etc. Beyerdynamic also makes snap-on covers for their own headphones, but I have no idea if they'd fit the Oppos.

I've also wondered about doing something like painting it with something protective or making my own fake leather. I saw something once about making fake leather out of paper and varnish and glue. You could get totally creative.
