Hay anyone compared these to the HE-500? Seems like they have very similar sound signatures from what I gathered from impressions.

 
Quite different - I should a comparison with the 500s and the 650s earlier in this thread somewhere, which may be of help.

I am considering a HeadphoneLounge UP-OCC silver cable. [Excellent cable, BTW.  Am currently running my Martin Logan Mikros 90 with either a UP-OCC silver or copper cable, to blissful effect.]

No plans for a recable, but I do have a spare out being shortened, and the leftovers used to make a 4 pin XLR, 1/4 and 1/8 pigtails, all connected to the main cable via mini XLR.  I like OCC copper.

I ordered a Molecule Hybrid (SP OCC Copper) from DHC based on Peter recommendation for my PM-1 with the balanced connector for my AK240. It works great. I think the PM-1 highs benefit of the silver content. I am trying to see if Robert form Aphroditecu29 can make me a Zeus Silver Clad OCC Copper via a ViaBlue TRS connector.

I'm with Maxvla on his review: I don't think that the PM-1s are so much less detailed as that the lower treble makes them sound muffled. If that means they are less detailed in the treble due to lower volume in that area, then so be it. I felt that the LCD-X soundstage was more expansive and that the PM-1s are more left-and-right sounding.

Maybe he's saying the LCD-X soundstage is deeper and that the PM-1s soundstage is wider.

My impression is that the sound comes more from distinctly left and right points than a wider space. Sorry if that was a bad description.

The more treble you hear (in relation to bass and mids), the more airy and "grey" the overall sound is... And if there is too much of it, you literally have no black background so you are almost unable to localise specific sounds and separate them from each other because what you get is one big homogenic "grey" mess (from right to center to left). This is an extreme example but it works in my experience - one thing is how expansive soundstage of headphones is in width, and completely different thing is how airy specific headphones are (or how much black background they are able to provide).
 
I would assume that PM-1 offer significantly less treble extension than LCD-X... And that LCD-X provides wider soundstage.
