Hi,

I was wondering those of you that owned this pair or heard it.
What do you think ??

Does the left speaker crackle more than the right?

I once owned a pair of HD590 and they worked fine. Though they were on the bright side, the brightness never went to the degree of being harsh. Brightness is different than harshness! I finally sold it because I didn't warm up to its lean midrange, but I must admit it was not bad at all.
I believe most people will prefer the warmer and fuller sounding HD580. But anyway there are people who love bright sounding headphones.

well, the dude at the shop obviously is wrong. you shouldn't keep something broken just because someone else sais its not. Sennheiser gives 2 years of warranty on these things right? try and find out where you can send your pair for repair.

The 590 are very good. I owned a pair for quite some time, and now wish I had them back, not because I really need them, but they'd be nicer to "carry around" than my CD3000.

They are indeed a bit bright, but I found them very pleasant and detailed, not fatiguing. Build quality could be better, the plastics sometimes creak and make some noises, but when it comes to sound I thought they were a bargain. I'd easily buy another pair if I end up needing more headphones.

That noise isn't normal, so either you're hearing those plastic sounds (that should not happen unless you move a lot) or you have a defective transducer or perhaps some problem in your source.

In any case, the HD590 are great, despite of what many HD580/600 users say.

This may not be a very important opinion, because I never listened to the HD590, but I've recently seen it in Saturn (Munich/Theresienhoehe) and its design seems plain ugly to me - even uglier than the HD600. I liked the HD580, though. Of course, the looks are not very important as long as there's good sound quality - especially on a headphone, which you won't see while wearing it, anyway...

Greetings from Munich!

P.S.: Ctn, does that crackling happen with any headphone jack, or did you listen to all your sources through only one jack on one amp? If it happens on any jack, it's definitely the headphone that is out of order and needs to be replaced/repaired.

it happened in any jack...i tried it on "their" l33t cd player + amp and still got the same thing though the dude said he didnt hear nething

im going to try to get it replaced...if not, do u think its worth spending an extra 200 bux aussue / 100 bux US for the hd 600?

dude, those salesguys never hear that kinda stuff. I had a pair of Sony buds that started distorting in the bass region. I thought it was annoying as hell, they were kind enough to try and find out what they could do for me, but they couldn't hear it...

try and get it repaired if you really like em. otherwise, if you can swing the cash, the hd600 will be a definitive step up (has really good treble as well, dun worry), as long as you got some power for them.

Why Compromise? they cost a bit more, but you can't take the money with you when you die.

what kinda amp is needed to drive the 600's?

will a hifi system do for amping?
or do i need a proper headphone amp?

i got a sb live atm...getting the audiogy when it's released.

those little all-in-one systems they usually cal hifi-systems won't do it. a proper component cdp should do a better job. nothing can beat a good dedicated amp tho, starting with a Creek at 200$ or a portable might do it for 150$ (TA)
