I was originally looking at open headphones - namely the 555 or 595. However, it appears these type of phones have no isolation and leak a lot of sound?? In this case, what is a good closed headphone? And will it have the same sound quality as the open phones such as 555 or 595? Looking for something with good SQ for home use with ipod unamped and maybe on a plane as well.

A900 LTD, for $300. It's easily my favorite headphone so far. The sound signature is just right, with good balance across the midrange, highs and lows. Its bass is authoritative and it has a very musical sound to it. In addition, the noise floor sounds very low given its isolation and large circumaural cover around your ears. On the other hand, it doesn't isolate as well as IEMs.

I personally haven't tried other models so I will let others comment.

Could you give your location so other members may know what is available?

BTW, Audiocubes ships most countries and has ATs.
