I am looking for comfortable open back headphones for gaming. I have a mic (AntLion ModMic) that can be attached so the design would need to allow for a small magnet to be attached to the side. Recommendations would be appreciated. Hoping to find something under $200.
Thanks!

Senn HD598 and the ATH-AD900 are both terrific options. If you want to spend less, HD558 and AD700X would work very well for you. These are all open headphones, which will give you superior soundstaging for your gaming.

Awesome. I'll check them out!

BTW. What is the main difference between the 900 and 700s?

If you dont mind buying a used headphone Philips Fidelio X1 or X2 are great for gaming,in fact thats my set-up...X1+ModMic+MixAmp Pro 2013.

I will warn you that often times the open backs will allow enough sound to bleed into ModMic,which causes an echo for other players.

Interesting. I don't thing of that. I figured open back would keep your ears from getting too hot.

The AD900X is slightly more clear and detailed and might have slightly tighter bass--to me, that is. They are very similar (if I am not mistaken, they may use the same driver--could be wrong about that, but I believe that is correct). In that respect it is analogous to the Senn 5XX series, which are said to share a driver as well. The AD700X is terrific, no doubt about it.

Its not a deal breaker IMO,and if im raiding in Destiny, for example, where communication is key to succeed,I just remove the ModMic from the base and lay it on my chest, problem solved.

Open backs will give your ears more room to "breathe" and you should get better soundstage with them as well, which is why I recommended the Fidelios...excellent soundstage+good bass slam, kinda rare combo.

The pricing has been quite attractive on the DT880's I have used these for my gaming most of the time ..for 3yrs~ now..  super comfortable (premiums especially) good for long gaming sessions.
