Hello all,

I'd love to get some feedback on everyone's favorite open-back can that runs from $100-$200. I don't have too much money right now. I use a pair of Ultrasone HFI-780s in public and on campus, but want something open back for home use. Any suggestions are welcome!

You can find lots of information around here by conducting a search. The most regularly recommended ones are the Grado Prestige Series / Alessandro MS1 and the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700--both great choices, especially if, I assume, you're not using an amp.

I have the tiny fiio2 pocket amp, which I've grown pretty attached to

I'll look into both of those. Thanks for you help!

No problem. I just thought of another commonly recommended one: Sennheiser HD 595.

Do an advanced search, titles only, for "open 200" (without the quotes). I think you'll find a lot of threads to help you out.

Good luck!

Since you are using fiio amp which is considerable quite bass heavy, maybe you can use Grado SR80 which is considerably bass light, it may sound nice, I never try this combination though. I use SR-60, they are nice without an amp.

Ms-1 or AD700 would be the best choices. They are fast, and energetic sounding phones. The soundstage of the AD700 is hard to beat in the pricerange. MS-1 and AD700 are both good allrounders.

The HD238 isn't bad either if you want something portable but the fiio might make them too bassy.

HD555/HD595 aren't terrible either but I'd go for the MS-1 or AD700 over either of them. Good if you want a warmer laid back sound.

The Beyerdynamic DT440 is another option, however some find it to be uncomfortable.

This would be my choice. Costs $100 on Amazon. Personally, I find it very comfortable. In any event, I find it heard to imagine anyone thinking it is less comfortable than a Grado or the MS1, so if you are considering those...

No dilemma here, the open headphones have better dynamic. Check out the K702 with some nice sound card for full quality.
