Hey,
I have a question about Op Amps. I have a pair of AKG-k702 headphones and am using a Cute Beyond headphone amp with my NAD CD player. Ya Ya I know, the Cute may not be the top of the line, but it's all I can afford, and my AKG's sound pretty good with it. My question is this: I was thinking of exchanging the OP Amps in the Cute with a set of Burr Brown OPA627 Op Amps. I've seen good white ups about them, but will I notice an appreciable difference with my headphones?

I've tried OPA627s in my amp and they're good, very good but you might want to try AD797 since they're cheaper and give the K701s a much needed bass kick...

Overpowering bass on your K701/K702 is not something you need to worry about...

OP, don't use the AD797.

It's a cranky chip and most important it's a bipolar input chip.

You don't just simply swap opamps. You must really know whether the circuit in hand will work stable with the AD797.

EDIT: IMO, the "OPAMP SWAP" trend in head-fi in a way is quite sickening by the fact that most people don't know what they are really doing.

Well,
I'll be sure to stick to either of those OP AMP's, since Firestone Audio recommends both. It's a relatively inexpensive way of improving the sound.

I would strongly consider "SUPPLIER PSU" from audiophileproducts.com.

I have Fubar IV Plus and after PSU upgrade soud quality improved, I would say almost like night and day.
