First I'd like to say What's up to all and thanks for all of the brain numbing info in this forum

I just up graded my gaming headphones from the Sony v6 to the beyer DT770 pro80. The problem I'm having is that they aren't very loud when compared to the Sony. I'm using an old soundblaster audigy 2, do they, would they be better with a amp or should I return them put a little more money(which I shouldn't spend) and get the DT880 32? BTW I love the bottom end most purest rant about

While most 80ohm phones don't necessarily need an amp, it depends on what they're used with. My DT250 improved a fair bit with amping over onboard. And regardless of the 32ohm, I'd still be amping the 880 as well if I were you. My RS2 are only 32ohm, but they just don't open up without a bit of power.

by the way, from what I've read the DT770/32ohm sounds vastly different than the DT770pro/80ohm.
The 80ohm versions are bass monsters for one. Don't just take my word for it, but the 250ohm versions seem favorable to both the 32 and 80ohm versions.

So, unless you're looking for bass, I would do this:
return the DT770pro/80 and get the DT770/250 and an amp.
If you're gonna get the 32ohm version, I think there are better headphones for the price. Again, don't just take my word for it.

Thanks to all who responded. I love the bass as I listen to lot of old school hip hop R&B and dare I say Disco and House Music so no bass would diminish the experience. So I guess a amp is on the menu, which amp/dac would match well with the DT770 pro80. I've read some of skylabs reviews on some of the products sold on one of the sponsors sites Head-Direct and to be truthful the are way above my pay grade

so any advice would be helpful. This amp will sit on my desk so it doesn't have to be portable and will be used to play FPS games as well as listening to music. I would like to spend no more than $200us.

Simple solution: Return the Beyer and get Denon AH-D2000. No amp needed, and you'll get all the bass you want. Not the best "audiophile" solution, but good fun for games/movies/music.
