I would love to plan a trip for this coming March, end of the month, for Hawaii, probably the big island or Maui. this would hopefully be for a 7 or 8 days stay.

Other than Suntrips, does anyone have any recommendations for online or offline places to make travel arrangements, like a travel agency, etc? i am going to try local agencies, but hope some of you might have found places that have especially good deals. i would love to keep the trip's budget under $1000, if thats even remotely possible. would prefer nicer hotels, ocean views...but 5 star is out of my range i have a feeling

any recommendations on specific hotels or places to see?

of course, ill have to score a battery powered amp to feed my ety's for this plane flight...but thats the cheapest expense for this trip

Oh and if you go to Maui, be sure to do the bike down Haleakala (not sure if I spelled that right). Don't get on one of those crappy familyish guided tours. You want the company that just brings you to the top and lets you go (as fast as you want) by yourself. Gorgeous views, incredible speeds, lots of fun. It was my favorite part of Maui. I used Halekala Bike Co. and I believe they are the originals (correct me if I'm wrong, it was over 2 years ago).
