Looks very interesting. It has that copper ground bus and those huge 2200uF caps. Could be a better implementation of VIA envy 24HT. Don't know what the DAC is. Street japanese pricing shows it to be about $120 but through exporting, it could be higher. The older model se-80PCI at audiocubes is more. You can shoot them an email to see if they carry this new one and how much.

Thank goodness it doesn't seem to be resampling like the older card...

Great, just when I purchase my 0404 a new potential FOTM card comes out.

I hope it's more than $99 if it sounds better than the E-MU so I can hold off for awhile.

Detailed pic. Breakout cable is for 7.1 analog. Digital is onboard. Chip is VIA 24HT.

I'm not familiar with "Vector Shaping Linear Circuitry". Can anyone comment on that?

Do I see 3 Phillips op amps? I'm referring to the 3 non-SMT chips... Cannot quite read the part numbers in that pic. Details.

What? They have IC:s there besides those big amounts of capacitors?-)
I wondered about that Vector Shaping Linear Circuitry, too. At least it looks like it supports EAX2 (on the page..).. Of course at what CPU percentage is a question, but it could be usable in games.

"Well the best capacitor is no capacitor" as they say. Maybe this is a classic case by the looks of it - No other Via Envy based card has such a massive level of capacitance (?) - i.e. it's not needed, but what do i know...

According to the Onkyo's website, they should have bit more info about it on 10/15. I dug around the site looking to see if they already have its manual on site, but they don't. Also, the ETA is now the end of November instead of middle of November as it says on the press release. It does use VIA Envy24HT, but the press release doesn't talk about any other specific components.
