Shure SE846.
I am considering getting a set of balanced cables for them.
However, Onkyo states in the specs not to go below an impedance of  32 ohms for balanced earphones. The SE846's are supposed to be 9 ohms. But, I've read posts where people are using their SE846's on the DP-X1 in balanced mode. Kind of confusing.

Yes the specs do state 32 ohms for balanced and I was concerned as well however I've been using 64 Audio U12s rated at 16 ohms with a balanced connector for almost a year now and have had no problems. I use the ACG setting.

I thought the Balanced output impedance is 2 ohms - which is pretty close to the 1/8th rule and the SE846's 9 ohms. I dunno how Onkyo got that 32 ohm minimum spec. 32/8 = 4 ohm, not 2 ohm.

Anywho, I use the SE846 with DP-X1 and think it sounds great. That's all that matters anyways, right? Lol

That's good to hear. Are you using the SE's balanced or unbalanced?

Balanced. Using an Impact Audio copper cable.

Hi all - I am looking for a good desktop stand for my DP-X1. Any good recommendation?

A lot of time, I use it at work on my desk with both headphone and USB charging cable plugged in. Because of the location of the charging port, it is hard to find the perfect stand for this DAP. Most stands were decided for iPhone and Android phones with USB port in the middle. Sigh.

I might have to use magnetic phone stand, but I am concerned with potential magnetic interference with the audio quality.

Whats the best digital filter setting and lock range adjust ? Using SLOW digital filter and Normal lock range with Gain low 2.

I think it's a personal preference. For me the difference is very subtle. When you play MQA files the player recommends to use the Short Filter. A narrow Lock Range Adjust sounds great but there can be dropouts while playing very highres stuff. I suggest you set it as narrow as your files allow you. You should experiment a little to find your perfect settings.

Narrow filter sometimes causes clipping indeed. Setting 1-2 steps from the narrowest solves it. For me this setting (Sharp-Narrow) sounds most alike analogue. But all ears are different :)

Guys I am a prospect DP-X1 buyer and i want to know if they hiss with shure se846? I will buy this mainly for Tidal so its very important....also AK70 is an excellent choice so does dx-1 perform better than AK70? Is there any other DAP that you'd recommend.

Thanks

I don't hear hiss and I have sensitive ears, using balanced and ACG setting.
