I have a question, for those ones who uses this DAP via line out: how fast is the battery draining? Much faster, than during regular use with headphones?

They don't say why, but to quote this site: https://www.factmag.com/2015/06/11/line-music-japan-streaming-service/

"Navigating the country’s rights laws has also proved difficult for companies like Spotify, Pandora and Rdio, who have yet to launch in the country. Until Line Music, one of the only streaming options in the country was Sony Music Unlimited, which recently closed. Another streaming service Awa, opened last month."

Tidal may have the same issues..

There is nothing Ilegal, In Japan they dont have Tidal, so There is not reason to have the service into the DAP. I am in Mexico, and for some reason I have a JP version... and no Tidal for me jajaja Regards!

Not illegal, just not available in Japan.

Does tweaking the sound output (eq, gain etc) also affect the sound qualtiy in BT mode?

    Hello guys,

How can I replace Onkyo DP-S1's battery? I bought a used DP-S1 but it came with a dead battery.

DP-X1's battery is on sale for 3,000 yen on a Japanese site:

and it looks like it uses pin connector. No soldering is needed.
I wonder if DP-S1 is using the same battery? Has anyone tried to replace DP-S1's battery?

Here are images of DP-X1 battery:

Thanks for your response. I asked Onkyo USA. They said they don't sell parts... so if your product is out of warranty, there's no way you can buy its lithium battery from Onkyo.

Yes, I found the battery on Aliexpress but it ships without the protection board.. so you have to take out protection board from the original PD-S1 battery and solder it to the battery from Aliexpress.
I wonder how safe that will be?
I have a soldering kit so I can try this next month. I hope it won't explode lol

I've never tried other DP-S1s other than my own but is it just my device or the EQ on DP-S1 doesn't affect much to the output sound? I can barely sense the differences between EQ on and off. My Xperia even does it better thou the output quality isn't quite good, but at least I have options when it comes to changing IEM's sound signature.

Works well here, I use an Oppo PM-3 without EQ because no setting improves sound, but the various pre-set EQ settings and extra bass makes a lot of difference for my Monolith M300 in-ears. Both planar magnetic phones btw. What are your other settings like gain, balanced/acg, is your line-out mode off?

    Ugh...hello friends!

The charging light on my unit keeps flashing when it's plugged in....am I correct in assuming that the battery is probably pooched?

UPDATE: I received the replacement Chinese battery. However it's not really easy to weld it DP-S10's original protection board. It looks like I need a much better soldering kit.

So it turns out, it's extremely difficult to replace DP-S10's battery...
