I don't get out much, but tonight i'm in a hotel room with the spouse and kids and was looking forward to a little music time. However, unlike home the spouse is in the same room while I'm using the HD-600's. I've got it down pretty low, but she claims it is too loud, meaning she thinks there should be no external sound. So off goes the amp.

While at the Apple store today I almost picked up one of the lower end Shures or Ety's. Now I'm kicking myself because I figure those would have leaked less sound. Of course what I really want were one of the higher end models anyway.

Let this be a lesson to me, I say. Always follow your impulse buys and be prepared, or be prepared to hear no music. Thank God, she was never in the room when I owned and used these at home

I used to havd AKG 271's. Should have kept them. I can see now why so many Headfiers have multiple sets of headphones.

I'll have to research closed cans on this site.

The lobby is my friend. Fireplace and endless coffee with the tunes and Apple Powerbook are working for me this morning.

You could try a nice pair of closed Audio-Technica's like the W5000s.

Well I think you are on the right track. Here are some possibilities:

-Get a close can
-Get IEM's
-Get two hotel rooms

-Get ear plugs for your spouse

-Do not travel with spouse
