How does everyone go about taking their larger DAPs (like Like Kann Ultra/Fiio M17) with them from place to place?

In places like the grocery store or gym, do you guys utilize a dongle DAC to your phone and leave the big boy at home?

I have been using a small sling bag to transport my Kann Ultra to the office and back as of now but I'm considering something like a dongle to minimize anything bad happening to the Kann.

Thanks!

When you're working out at the gym, you're probably breathing too heavily to notice the slight extra nuance you might be getting from the DAP. There are so many good sub-$100 dongles -- iBasso, Tanchjim, FiiO -- that carting around the DAP seems unnecessary.

That’s kind of what I was thinking. The grey area is while I’m at my desk lol like what do I truly need

I just use an Apple 3.5mm adapter on the Moondrop Chu 2 or Momentum 3 ear buds for wireless. The less expensive the less to worry about. I like the Topping G5 for the laptop for travel, but 10oz is too much to lug around on the phone.

I've tried a few combos and settled on using an ifi go blu for day to day travel and gym. Yes the sound quality takes a hit from relying on bluetooth but the convenience is just unbeatable and it gets plenty loud on its own. Then I just reserve the larger devices for longer trips or times when I know i'll be stationary.
