3. Before introducing the new hybrid IEM model, let’s make a review of the FH7 and FH9. Both of them are omnipotent earphones in terms of configurations and sound performance at the same price range as other earphones on the market. From the actual sales and user feedback, the FH7 and FH9 are successful. This gives us confidence to develop the FH7S. This time, we channeled the excellent essence of the FH7 and FH9 to officially release the 4 Balanced Armature 1 Dynamic Driver IEMs, the FH7S.

Unlike previous earphones with a rounded corner, the FH7S was designed with an all-new multilateral sci-fi armor appearance that follows the M17 and M11, being more aggressive, young and stylish. The FH7S comes with meticulously designed ergonomics and skin-friendly in-ear wearing, where the earphones touch the ear auricle was smoothly processed to ensure great wearing comfort.

4. The FH7S could be regarded as the younger FH9. It features a 13.6mm DLC dynamic driver, exactly the same as the FH9 in diaphragm size and materials, which helps to acquire breath-taking bass dynamics. Balanced armatures are all from Knowles, of which the 31736 treble BA ensures excellent extension and resolution, and the compound mids BA set was collaboratively developed and customized by Knowles and FiiO. Two mids BA units make for fuller and clearer vocals. They are all made of the same materials as in the FH9, so we can see the sound potential the FH7S includes.

To ensure the density of the mid frequencies of the FH7S, we specially designed a notch filter. For one thing, it compensates the frequency range that the treble and bass drivers are unable to cover. For another, it minimizes sibilance from the overlap with the treble driver. The semi-open acoustic design started from the FD5 and was highly acclaimed. Later, we further developed the semi-open design by better guiding and controlling the airflow to a second generation. Therefore, even in a different cavity from the FH9, the FH7S can acquire the same soundstage and dynamics.

5. The S.TURBO acoustic design started from the FH5. The FiiO team made good use of it based on years of experience, and combined frequency response features of each driver to filter extra high frequencies yet without losing any power. The result is smoother frequency connection, and robust bass. The FH7S comes with 3 kinds of sound filters, bass, mids and treble, to meet different music styles.

The included cable is the LC-RC with 8 stands of silver-plated monocrystalline copper wires and 3.5/4.4mm interchangeable audio plugs. As for the frequency response curve, the FH7S’ is close to the FH9’s. It shows the energy distribution when the sound travels through the earphones.

You may notice that the FH7S includes the FiiO-developed ear tips, the HS18, which will also be sold separately. They are made of medical-grade silicone, and the surface that touches the ears is only 0.4mm thick, which ensures extremely comfortable wearing. In addition, these new ear tips feature a large opening, the same as the size of the FH7S sound tube, to minimize sound barriers between the earphone and the eardrum – which reduces high frequency loss and further enhances resolution. There are S/M/L types, all included in the FH7S.

The HS18 has 3 sizes (S/M/L), and the MSRP is 9.99 USD (2 pairs for each size). It is expected to be available in September.

8. The body of the DK3S is made of aluminium alloy and carefully finished with fine sandblasting. The surface of its base is then anodized. Finally, a more rigid, scrape-resistant and durable dock was completed. What’s more, the triangular support design makes for a more stable settlement with the player. The base of the DK3S, and the contact surface between the player and the fan are protected with silicone mats for better anti-collision, anti-scratch and anti-slip abilities.

Not sure how I feel about the "semi-open" part. I generally use my IEMs to drown out any background noise (my office has noise generators installed, one right above my desk, that sound like an A/C blowing).
