The only pair of high end headphones I've ever purchased HAVING listened to them first, are the Grado RS-2s I'm listening to right now... And boy, was this the right decision...
Not here, at least not yet. I'm curious about the sound but I'm nervous it might be similar to the rs1. Not good enough; more than incremental improvements and larger soundstage is necessary for $1K. If they looked beautiful like the hp1000 or even very nice like a ps1 I'd still be really tempted to preorder - but honestly they look pretty goofy.
In short I have too many reservations to make this an impulse purchase. I'll wait for the initial reviews to roll in. If they seem to compare favorably to the ps1 or hp1000, then I'll buy.
I'm probably going to pounce on the GS-1 sooner or later. I already have approval from the fiancée! YES! And pretty much all of my headphones have been bought on impulse and hype without ever having heard them. THe one exception being... uh.. my.... Crap. okay, so there's no exception, they've ALL been bought deafly. I'm such a lemming. But if listening to Grados means I blindly follow off a cliff, then I'm falling gloriously to my doom.
Took me a while to realize you were talking about the new grado. Many those look radical. I haven't ordered em, and I probably wont until I ear them. Thats not to say I havent made such purchases...
I'm so tempted to order a pair of these. I just dropped $3000 for a new pair of speakers, so I'm a little strapped for cash right now. I'll probably wait until I hear some more impressions before ordering.
I heard them, if only for 5 minutes, and they are definately on my radar. Kind of expensive, but considering the cost of the HP-1000's and PS-1 it is an absolute steal!
