I'm going to be acquiring an Onkyo surround sound receiver from my father for free, (yay, no money gone!) and I'll be connecting my computer to it so I can connect my bookshelf speakers to it. In order to do this, if I have my technology straight, I'll need to have a 3.5" headphone jack to RCA component jack adapter in between before I can connect the audio to the receiver and then just set up the speakers from the receiver. Is this correct?

[Computer's audio out]--3.5" to RCA adapter-->[Left and Right Channels]

Yes.
Although I'd prefer using RCA to mini ready made cables. lol
