Ok, so we've had *some* nasty delays at DAPreview... Like Austin said, it's not easy to combine your average-day stuff with this time-consuming hobby.
Nevertheless, we've finally taken care of some business. iHP-100 vs HDD100 review will appear in September (I had to kick my Iriver-supplier's butt for that). Furthermore, two individual reviews will be published. Then there's the additional X-Clef review from our side, plus that mystery-review (which isn't going to shock anyone, but it just sounds kewl).
In about two weeks from now, I'm finally done with my every-day job so that I can maintain DAPreview.com in the way it was supposed to be maintained. Mind you, I've had to go through a lot of paperworks and bank statement-stuff before getting us the official company-status.
Yes, we've got that one now. Yes, it will mean that we are turning more professional. Yes, it will cost additional time to keep up with the competition... and yes, we've lost track of some important issues like the Rio Karma/Nitrus stories. But try to look at it from our perspective... we're coping with several issues a day while still living normal every-day lives. We actually have to PAY for units we want to review too, it's not like we can get this stuff for free. With this official company-status, we are finally convincing manufacturers that should send those gadgets to our place.
Look at this X-Clef deal too, I mean... it's virtually non-profit to me (well Austin didn't get involved in here, since our supplier only delivers in European countries... USA would become very expensive) and I found myself asking "Why am I doing this" several times a week. But hey, we've started this thing up, so we're going to continue doing it too. It's a great learning experience for us too (wow, sounds so educational).
I've completely restyled DAPreview a couple of weeks ago, before I went on a holiday. True, we didn't get to the comparison thing yet... We're picking up the pieces since I've returned... just a couple of weeks of patience will do the trick. Any questions, remarks or offers can be e-mailed to us, no sweat.
I'm sure Austin thinks about this in pretty much the same way.
