Ive had advice from you guys, for which I was very grateful, but everything I checked out had a flaw which ruled particular sets of cans out of the equation.
Im looking for a set of CLOSED BACK full size cans for listening to Jazz Guitar and female vocalists singing with acoustic guitar. I listen using a Creative 4GB Zen MP3 player, so the cans must be easy driven , produce good volume and not be at all reliant on an external amplifier.
I detest coily cables, so the lead to the input socket on my zen player MUST be straight. Obviously wearer comfort is hugely important to me. I already have a set of sennheiser 201s which are used for the hard rock and blues that I also enjoy , but if Im looking a set of cans for jazz and acoustic guitar :
the cans have to be refined sounding
there should be a smooth top end without a hint of harshness or glare
bass MUST not be club music crude thump, but should be full sounding and tight
soundstage should be revealing and natural
I am based in the uk, what you pay 200 bucks for in the US, we end up paying £200 ( $350) for the same thing. I know I am being nit picky and all that, but do you have any suggestions that I would pay tops of £85 for in the UK, I think because I am not using external amp and all that, it would be diminishing returns once I cross that price point, in US currency , it would be helpful to me if you can keep any choices below the $180 mark.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
